"Some authors consider it to be simply a color form of D. chrysotoxum, but Senghas treated it as separate and so do I. The only technical character - other than suavissimum having the dark throat while chrysotoxum is pure yellow - I can find is that there are sparse minute hairs along the petal margins in chrysotoxum and absolutely none in suavissimum". First offering of this awarded cultivar. Flower base color is yellow with contrasting oxblood black over the basal two thirds of the tepals. Lip is cream yellow, heavily spotted with magenta. The plants offered here are well-established into their 3.25" pot with an inflorescence on the way down. The pot may be bottomless to allow the inflorescence to emerge.
